For building designers and architects, it comes as no surprise that many people who either will feature home style. Some if not most of you will give the "catch-all" term, traditional. If asked, what characteristics make up the traditional architecture, the answer given can vary widely from others who have their own ideas of what is "traditional." Webster's Dictionary defines the word as handed down by, or in accordance with tradition. The fact is, traditional style is actually not at all. Of the many design styles spread across the United States, few are native to the country. Perhaps the best known one is made popular and developed by a group of Chicago architects known as the Prairie School. Of the professional groups which created the Prairie architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright is perhaps the most famous. Other Native American styles including Craftsman, American Foursquare, Colonial, and more. In the case of other architectural styles, the list is too long to mention. With that being said, some large like the style of architecture include French, Mediterranean, Tudor, Greek and Gothic Revival.
